Why Do Freelancers Fail?
Primarily, failed freelancers are not fully committed to the craft and all that comes with the commitment. When it gets difficult or they face roadblocks, they allow outside circumstances to determine their fate. They blame others and they don’t do the hard things necessary to succeed.
Simply put, they give up and for good reasons. Freelance can be hard, but the reward of freedom and financial gain incentivize many freelancers to persevere.
How do you know if you’re fully committed to freelance? When you have no money in the bank and no paying clients, do you think about getting a job or getting your next customer? If you’re thinking of applying for a job, you’re not fully committed. If you’re thinking about what you can do to get your next freelancing gig, you’re fully committed.
Fully committed freelancers don’t think about if they should continue, they instead think how they can overcome the obstacle in front of them. This mental toughness is what sustains freelancers over the long haul and it develops their ability to adapt and overcome any challenge that comes their way.
